"We have the
iLearn series and it is phenomenal. We're just starting to
train a couple new guys and it is indispensable. From setting
up a program to how the sensors work to all the analysis, it is very
well thought out and easy to move around to look at different
examples/lessons. I highly recommend it as well." Patrick Lawrence:

"We have been using the
iLearnInteractive package for 12 months now, I quite often refer
to it when stumped with a problem, its very useful and a good
tool to reaffirm some points that you sometimes forget to think
of." David Mumford

Vibration training
is essential. But what is the best way to learn?
Classroom training has its benefits, but what do you do after the
course (unless you attend a Mobius Course)? You are on your own. Alternatively you can learn at your own pace, with
narrated, interactive training, with assistance from an experienced
trainer.
“I have recently finished
iLearnVibration Category II distance learning training. I would
recommend this to anyone as training that is REAL value for money. I
have done a lot of training in my working life of 24 years and this
is by far the best. Traditionally we train in a classroom/conference
room for 3-4 days where we are saturated with knowledge.
Realistically we cannot remember it all and herein lies
iLearnVibration’s biggest advantage. I am able, and I do, go back to
the training time and again to clarify points that I hadn't grasped.
I paid for 8 weeks training, the reality is I can attend that 8
weeks a 100 times over, (or portions of it ), and pay no more. I did
the training at a pace I could cope with and stopped the lecturer
frequently, and got him to repeat a whole lesson - you can't do that
at a traditional session!
This is the face of modern training, forget traditional training and
spend your training budget on iLearnVibration, I did and I doubt
you'll regret it if you do."

Ten keys open the door to success
with vibration analysis
Key Number One:
Training that is easy to absorb
iLearnVibration
is our award-winning computer-based training program.
iLearnVibration is the best way to learn about vibration analysis.
It is
enjoyable to use, it makes difficult concepts easy to understand,
it is very interactive, and it is all narrated, so you do not have
to read a thing. It is just like having an instructor in the
room with you, on call 24 hours a day, ready to cover (and review)
any topic you wish.
iLearnVibration covers all of the
theory, but it relates it all to practical situations you will face
in your work. You will understand the topics, and you will
understand why they are important.
There is a saying: “Tell me and I will forget, show me and I will
remember, involve me and I will understand”. Our training system is an
excellent training tool, but to test yourself, and to build
life-long understanding, you need to be placed in a situation where
you have to solve problems for yourself. The
case histories do just that.
The case studies involve real data that you can analyze, and listen
to. Instead of using static pictures of spectra and waveforms,
our data is real.
Key Number Three: Your
own personal trainer – an expert vibration analyst
We have great training tools, but everyone needs help - questions
are bound to arise. When you sign up for the course you will be
assigned to an expert vibration analyst who has years of vibration
analysis and training experience. We have trainers in the United
States, Australia, and Costa Rica (Spanish language), so there is one in your time zone, who speaks
your language.
Your “personal trainer” will answer your questions and monitor your
progress. You can use e-mails, talk via "Skype" free phone calls, or
use our new message board forum.
Key Number Four: Simulator
software that makes difficult concepts easy to understand (and they
help to keep you motivated)
The fully narrated training is only the first of many strengths.
Yes, we do have animations and illustrations, but it is the
simulation programs that make all the difference. Rather than just
reading (or listening) to potentially complex vibration concepts,
these programs allow you to use your hands, and your brain, to get
first-hand experience with the topic. You will be amazed out how
quickly you will understand topics that could otherwise require
hours of training (and frustration).
The following is a summary of all of the simulator/demonstrator
programs:
1. Fundamentals: Turn a knob to see how speed affects vibration
level and pattern.
2. Phase: Understand phase by comparing the phase between two
fans.
3. Transducers: Understand the relationship between
displacement, velocity and acceleration.
4. Vibration visualizer: View the waveform, spectrum, and
waterfall plot based on the sounds made into a microphone.
5. Signal frequency demonstrator: Select from a series of
classic vibration signals and see and hear the difference
between bearing, cavitation, imbalance and other conditions.
6. Overall level: Show the limitations of overall (rms) readings
utilizing real vibration data and a selectable vibration meters.
7. Unit converter: Convert units, and then see the relationship
between speed and vibration units.
8. 3D Spectra: Learning the relationship between signals, the
time waveform and the FFT spectrum.
9. Filters: Understand the difference between a high pass, band
pass and low pass filter using your eyes and ears.
10. Bearing faults: See the balls roll around the race, and see
the corresponding patterns for different fault conditions.
11. Imbalance: See how the vibration level is related to the
speed of a fan with an out-of-balance weight.
12. Alignment: Understand offset and angular misalignment by
adding/removing shims and moving the motor laterally.
13. Balancing: Perform simple single-plane and two-plane
balancing.
14. Natural frequencies and mode shapes: Change the
characteristic of a metal bar to see how the natural frequency
is changed. Excite it with different frequencies, and see the
Bode plot and Nyquist diagram. The bar is animated (operating
deflection mode shape.)
15. Orbits: Create your own orbits, and view classic orbit
patterns.
16. Signal generator/demonstrator: Build your own signals and
see how they mix together. See the resulting spectrum.
Experiment with modulation, beat frequencies, different signal
shapes, and much more.
17. Signal processing demonstrator: Experiment with averaging,
windowing, resolution, Fmax, log/linear, and other key data
collector functions to understand their purpose and how to use
them to your advantage.
18. Machine modeler: Drag and drop machine component icons
(motor, pump, gearbox, etc.) to build a machine. View the
forcing frequencies, and a simulation of the vibration pattern.
19. Band alarm generator: Adjust the band parameters to see how
you can set up your band alarms. Discover their strengths and
weaknesses.
20. Mask alarm generator: Adjust the mask alarm (narrow band
alarm) parameters to see how you can set up your alarms.
Discover their strengths and weaknesses.
21. Case histories with historical data: See how machine faults
have developed over a period of time. Read a report to
understand the maintenance history, the analysis process, and
more. See spectra, waveforms, and waterfall plots from three
axes.
22. Case histories with live data: See real “live” time
waveforms and the spectra from 25 different machines. Listen to
the data, analyze it on-screen, or play it into your data
collector.
23. Virtual test rig: See real “live” time waveforms and the
spectra from a sophisticated test rig (fault demonstrator).
Select the fault condition, the position on the test rig, and
view/hear/analyze the vibration. The “live” data can be played
into your data collector.
Key Number Five: Flexibility
- fitting the training around your work (and home) responsibilities
You need flexibility. Can you afford to take a week away from work?
Apart from all of the travel, accommodation and other costs, the
interruption to your job and family is unacceptable. With our
training, the learning process is spread over eight weeks. You just
need to make a little time each week.
Key Number Six: A better
learning environment - learn at your own pace
Have you been to class? Have you tried to learn everything in the
few days allowed? Do they conduct the class at your pace? With
iLearnVibration, the course material and activities are planned out
for each week (but you can do more or less as suits you). If you
encounter topics that are a little more difficult to understand,
don’t worry - just click the back button and go over it again.
Key Number Seven: A life-long
resource
But what about after the course? Our training, spread over eight
weeks, will give you the best chance to understand and retain the
knowledge and experience. But you won’t remember everything. The
great news is that you keep the CD – you can go on learning. Far
better than any book or Web pages, all of the material used in the
course is yours to keep. So, when you have a question, or wish to
review the topics covered, it is right there, ready to go.
And when you are ready to step up to the next certification level,
you will already have the CD – we simply unlock the course and away
you go.
Key Number Eight: Monitoring
your progress
As you go through the course, it is important that you can tell if
you are learning the material to a sufficient depth. Our weekly
quizzes will do just that. The questions are not too difficult, but
they will tell you (and your personal trainer) if you have
understood the course material.
Key Number Nine:
International recognition
You do a very difficult job, and the knowledge required to do it
successfully is considerable – but what recognition do you receive?
Probably not much! But that can all change. If you take the
certification option, you will sit a monitored exam, and if you
pass, you will receive a certificate, a lapel pin, and a keychain.
You can use them proudly to show everyone what you have achieved.
When we ship the system we include a Webcam with built-in
microphone. During the exam we will be watching to ensure that it is
secure, and that you are following our guidelines.
If (when) you pass the exam, the signed certificate, silver lapel
pin and keychain pendant will be shipped to you, and your name will
be proudly displayed on the register at our Web site.
Key Number Ten: Management
reports (optional)
Training and certification are key to employee development.
Management, and the H.R. department, need to understand what the
employee is qualified to do; what progress was made in this course, based on the comparison of the pre- and post-course test results;
any gaps in the employee’s knowledge, and what the next step should
be in the training process.
Our testing, training logs, and skills assessment are presented in a
professional report, and in electronic format.
This service is optional, but is included in the course fee.
No risk
If, for any
reason, you cannot find the time to complete the course in the eight
weeks provided, you can simply defer to any future course. And if
you fail the certification exam, you can simply go through the
training material once again and re-take the exam one month in the
future.
But if you get to
the end of the second week of the course and decide that this form
of training does not suit your needs, or you are not happy with the
material or the tools we use, you can simply return the CD and key
and receive a 100% refund. We believe in our material, instructors
and training methods, and are confident that you will not even
consider this option.
